Biyografi

Zeynep Ölçü Dinçer received her BA, MA, and PhD in Foreign Language Education from Middle East Technical University in 2014. Between 2008 and 2013, she worked as a research assistant in the same department, actively contributing to both research and teaching. She later continued her academic career as an Assistant Professor in the Department of English Language Teaching at Erciyes University. She is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of English Language Teaching at Hakkari University.

She has taught BA and MA courses on English language teacher education, educational linguistics, and second language acquisition (SLA), and has supervised numerous MA and PhD theses in these areas. With a second field of interest in historical pragmatics, she completed a second PhD in Turkish Language in 2024, focusing on Old Anatolian Turkish dialogues.

Her research interests include English language teacher education—particularly practicum, teacher emotions, cognition, motivation, and instructional decision making, English Medium Instruction (EMI), SLA, and historical pragmatics. She is also deeply engaged in the study of Turkish historical dialogues. In addition to her native Turkish and professional expertise in English, she has studied Persian, Arabic, German, and French.

Dr. Ölçü Dinçer has published articles in national and international journals and books, and has presented her work at conferences worldwide. She has served as a reviewer for international journals such as Lingua and Studies in Second Language Learning and Teaching (SSLLT), and has evaluated research projects for the National Science Center of Poland and the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TÜBİTAK). She is a member of the Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Teacher Education Programs (EPDAD) and of the Erciyes University Micro Analysis Research Group (ERUMARG). Besides she is in the team of English Language Teacher Education in Turkey (ELTER).
